To grow Tabasco pepper seeds, follow these steps:

  1. Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date in your area.
  2. Fill a seed starting tray with well-draining potting mix and moisten it thoroughly.
  3. Sow the seeds 1/4 inch deep and space them about 1 inch apart.
  4. Cover the tray with plastic wrap to create a warm, humid environment.
  5. Place the seed starting tray in a warm location, such as a sunny windowsill or near a heat mat. Keep the soil moist but not soggy.
  6. The seeds should germinate within 14-21 days.
  7. Once the seedlings have two sets of true leaves, they can be transplanted into individual pots.
  8. When the seedlings are about 6 inches tall and have hardened off, they can be transplanted into the garden or into larger pots.
  9. Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil.
  10. Space the plants 18-24 inches apart.
  11. Water the plants deeply once a week, or more often if the weather is hot and dry.
  12. Fertilize the plants every two weeks with a balanced fertilizer.
  13. Tabasco peppers are typically ripe 80-90 days after transplanting.
  14. The peppers will be bright red and firm when ripe.
  15. Be sure to wear gloves when harvesting Tabasco peppers, as the capsaicin oil can irritate your skin.

Here are some additional tips for growing Tabasco pepper seeds:

  • Tabasco pepper plants are susceptible to pests and diseases, so it is important to inspect them regularly.
  • If you are growing Tabasco peppers outdoors in a cooler climate, you may need to bring them indoors during the winter months.
  • Tabasco peppers are very hot, so use them sparingly. A little goes a long way!
