Powder Puff Aster Seed Mix(Callistephus Chinensis)Cut flowers. 1000 seeds.

  1. Choose a sunny spot with well-draining soil. Asters need at least 6 hours of sunlight per day and do not tolerate soggy soil.
  2. Prepare the soil. Amend the soil with compost or manure to improve drainage and fertility.
  3. Plant the asters. You can plant asters from seed, cuttings, or plants purchased from a garden center. If planting from seed, sow the seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost. Transplant the seedlings outdoors after the last expected frost. If planting from cuttings, take cuttings from mature aster plants in the late spring or early summer. Root the cuttings in a moist potting mix and transplant them outdoors once they have developed roots.
  4. Water the asters. Water the asters regularly, especially during the first year after planting. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings.
  5. Fertilize the asters. Fertilize the asters once in the spring with a balanced fertilizer.
  6. Deadhead spent blooms. Deadheading spent blooms will encourage new blooms.
  7. Prune the asters. Prune the asters lightly in the spring to remove any dead or damaged branches.
  8. Harvest the asters. Asters can be harvested throughout the growing season. To harvest, cut the flower stems just below the blooms.

Tips for growing asters:

  • Asters are relatively pest- and disease-resistant, but it is important to inspect the plants regularly for signs of pests or diseases.
  • Asters can be grown in containers, but the containers must be at least 12 inches deep and wide.
  • Asters can be divided every 3-4 years to keep them healthy and vigorous.
